PICK YOUR TRIBE! focuses on labels within the gay community. The so-called "gay tribes" are used to categorize people based on shared physical—and especially bodily—features. The emphasis often lies on sex and anonymity.
This project offers a critical perspective on the use of these labels and the accompanying sexualization.
What happens when we blur the boundaries of these tribes?
Can we begin to truly see one another?
This woven work invites you to step outside of categories and to seek deeper connection.
